Actual methods used in real work sites to solve the problems are shown on this page. It also introduces the tricks behind the on-site improvements.
Easy and Accurate Maintenance and Inspections
Problem 1
We were told that the laser marker is maintenance-free, but we still want to perform maintenance and inspections. We want to measure the laser power, but the marker is in the middle of the line, so just performing inspections is very difficult.
Is there any way that we can easily perform maintenance?
Solution
We recommend our types with a built-in power monitor!
Regarding maintenance and inspections after embedding the laser marker in equipment, if you are using a model with a built-in power monitor, you can check the power regardless of the installation conditions. Corrections can also be applied automatically, which enables long-term, stable marking.
Measuring the power for each marking operation makes more accurate marking possible.
Especially with the marking of barcodes, stable reading is essential.
We guarantee stable operation not only immediately after the product is installed but after long-term use as well.
Reducing Erroneous Detections in Marking Inspections
Problem 2
We are performing laser marking on electronic components, but we cannot reduce erroneous detections even when we adjust the camera used in marking inspections.
What should we do?
Solution
We recommend the beam spot variation function!
When fine lines are used to mark electronic components, detection may be unstable depending on the marking inspection camera. Even if you adjust factors such as the camera's focal point, changing something like the model or the brightness may make the detection unstable again.
You can adjust the marking line width to a value that makes the lines easy for the camera to detect. Also, varying the beam spot size does not cause misalignment to occur.
Only when marking and marking inspections are both stable is it possible to obtain yield improvements.
KEYENCE provides our customers not only with marking solutions but with marking inspection devices as well.
Simplifying Marking Inspections
Problem 3
We want to inspect laser marking, but an image processing system is outside of our budget. Is there some simple way that we can check the marking?
Solution
You can detect the presence of marking with KEYENCE's FT Series Digital Infrared Temperature Sensor.
With the FT Series, temperatures in the range of 0 to 1350°C can be detected with a response speed of 10 ms, the fastest in its class.
In IR mode, far-infrared light having the wavelength of the laser can be received.
Simply connect the FT Series to the marking confirmation input on the laser marker's terminal block to check for the presence of marking.
Affordable marking confirmation is possible by combining KEYENCE's sensors and laser markers.
Total support is possible by combining different models together.
